Illustrator tutorial │Create a 3d vector globe

In this tutorial we will know how to create a simple but nice 3d globe in adobe illustrator. This is an intermediate tutorial of adobe illustrator. I have used many tools and panels to create the vector art. So, if you are a beginner, I recommend you to read the "Illustrator beginner tutorials first.

Minimum qualifications: Using the pen tool, pathfinder panel and the gradient palette.

Creating the grid

Step 1: At first, we need to draw the grid what will be the foreground of the globe. Create a small square rectangle as shown below.

Step 2: Selecting the rectangle go to "effect/distort and transform/transform" and give the following data. Press ok.

Step 3: Again selecting the rectangle go to "effect/distort and transform/transform" and give the following data.

Step 4: Now selecting the first rectangle expand the appearance (object/expand appearance). Select all rectangles and drag it to symbol palette.

Creating the 3d glob

Step 5: Create a circle and make it half size with pen tool or pathfinder palette.

Step 6: Selecting the half circle go to "effect/3d/revolve". Click on preview and then map art. A new window will be opened. Select the symbol what we created just few moments ago. Drag and resize it that fit best. Here are details on the image what to do.

Finalizing vector art work

Now, we will give the globe something realistic look. Go to the gradient palette and follow the data given below.

Take the gradient tool (G) and do as below.
