Start adobe illustrator for first time.

Open illustrator on your computer. Click on FILE/NEW. A pop up window will be opened. Here you can select document type; where you will work. You will notice some predefined profiles on the profile tab. Here are some profiles such as print, web, device, video and films, basic rgb, flash builder. The document type will be vary for every profile.

1. Print: If you want to work for printing select this profile. The "number of artboards" means how many rows you want per page. Select the paper size. Don't change the color mode from CMYK. Because, the print quality may be lower.

Note: You can't change the paper size later.

2. Web: Select this profile if you want to work for any web content. Select the height and width of your document. You can select any color mode. But use the rgb to get best result.

3. Devices: If you want work for a device such as iphone, ipad, xoom you can select the profile from profile menu. The document size which fit best is predefined.

4. Video and film: Select this profile if you want work for films.

5. Flash builder: By selecting this profile you can make an artwork for flash content.

Ok. Now we know how to start illustrator as a beginner. Now, we will learn about the interface of the "Illustrator" software.

i. Menu bar: On the top of the window you will see a bar with some dropdown menus. All the options are invisible under the dropdown.

ii. Work area: On the middle of the window you will find a blank page called work area. You have to create everything within this area. Otherwise the result will not be expected. To enable the rulers and grid right click on the working area and select "show" option for each item.

iii. Toolbar: On the left side of the window you will find a bar with lots of tools. To make changes to your artwork you have to use these toolbar.

iv. Panel bar: On the right side of the window you will find a bar with too many tools and options. The active panels will appear here. To active any panel or window click on window menu. Here you will see many items. Select any item which you need and unselect any item which you don't need.

v. Extra bar: You will find an extra bar under the menu bar. Many options are visible here. The option will be changed automatically by selecting tools.
